This nonprofit organization plays an important role in ensuring telephone service remains available and affordable in all parts of the country. They also manage a number of significant federal and state programs that help the United States telecommunications system continue to be the most widely used in the world.


The organization was responsible for distributing government funds to smaller, disadvantaged telephone companies. Their procedure for analyzing and distributing these federal funds had become extremely disjointed. To get the required information into its final form, numerous discrete data sources, multiple spreadsheets, different databases, and manual processes were accessed. The disparities between these systems made compiling information for the various companies a long and laborious process.


Destiny Corporation met with key decision-makers within the organization to gain a thorough understanding of their needs and to determine any existing process, resource or system constraints. Their prime objective was the ability to access information in real-time. Working with their head statisticians, we wrote an application to automatically analyze Baby Bell’s needs and distribute funds appropriately. This program saved the organization hundreds of thousands of dollars and numerous labor hours annually.
