The business had been conducting marketing campaign analysis using SAS executed ‘in-database’ with Oracle on a UNIX based environment. As a result, it took several hours to process their campaigns. This caused considerable delays in going to market with offerings to families for vacation, purchases, and other options.
Data was moved to a new MPP (Massively Parallel Processing) environment, and only the pointers in code were changed from Oracle to the new MPP environment. Analytics processing times decreased from 22 hours to 10 minutes.
